Today I wanted to do a little thrift store refashion. As you remember from my date night post, I bought some super cute little cotton dresses from the thrift store on Thursday night. I bought them knowing that they were way too small and that I would do something wonderful with them. I couldn't sleep that night because I was thinking about the possibilities.

I woke up the next morning, put on my new Andrews Sisters CD, pulled out my scissors and hacked this dress apart.
First, I used my seam ripper to rip the seams at both sides, skirt is still attached:

Next, I cut off the bottom, below the zipper and pockets, making sure that it was the appropriate length for a shirt.

next, I measures across the bust to see how many more inches it needed. I also measured the length to see how long the strip should be. I used the skirt to cut the strips that I needed:

I sewed the strip to the blouse at both seams, hemmed up the bottom and trimmed any loose threads. (note: the strip length goes from the bottom of the blouse, all the way up to the bottom of the sleeve, so it covers the armpit area, making the sleeve bigger) While I sewed, Olivia was put to sleep by the lullaby of the Andrews Sisters
