Happy St. Patrick's Day! While some use today as an excuse to drink, we have real reason to celebrate in my family because it's my Grandpa Dan's birthday! He always gets into the spirit and although he's more German and Scottish than anything. He decks the house out in green lights and clovers and blares Irish tunes as loud as the sterio will go. We celebrated last night at my Momma's house. She's been making the typical American corned beef and cabbage for ages but this year she also made a big pot of Dublin Coddle, which was divine. Pj and I found some Irish style bangers for her recipe and it turned out beautifully.  At Grandpa Dan's party, there was much drinking of Guinness, eating and reciting of Irish toasts. This is my favorite:

"May those that love us, love us.
And those that don’t love us,
May God turn their hearts.
And if he doesn’t turn their hearts,
May he turn their ankles,
So we’ll know them by their limping."

On mom's side, we actually do have a lot of Irish heritage and mom is very interested in Irish history, culture and folklore. In October, her Celtic oracle based on the Ogham was released. She was the author and artist for The Voice of the Trees. She did years of research to complete this project and I had a lot of fun hearing about the beautiful Celtic legends.

Anyway, not much going on today. Just running errands, grocery shoppin', a little sewing maybe. It is such a beautiful day that we decided to play outside this morning and take some pictures with the beautiful blooming trees. Today's ensemble is 40's inspired but not what I would call "vintage" at all. The blouse and skirt are both 70's polyester but it works, I think!

Check out my fab green shoes. I spray painted them yesterday and I think they turned out beautifully. I'm giving them several days of testing to see how they hold up but so far, so good! I have a few more pairs that are being painted so when I'm done with those, I'll give you the scoop on the how-to and all of the tips I've learned along the way.

Also today is a new-ish hairstyle with faux bangs and a topsy-tail (remember those, children of the 80's?) I'm running to the store for a new web cam today as mine kicked the bucket many weeks ago. Hope to get back to video tutorials soon and this style will be among them!
