Well, I was hoping to do some hair tutorials this weekend but I woke up with some sort poison ivy/oak rash all over my face! So, I hope you all enjoy some more old magazine scans for a few days!
I found a big shelf of old magazines at an antique shop near my mom's house in the country last summer. They've just been sitting around so I thought I'd share before they turn to dust someday! This is from Women's Home Companion, July 1939

That last one looks like the cast of The Women. Paulette Goddard is on the bike, Norma Shearer is wearing the black-and-white outfit. And there's Joan Crawford in the snood, and that must be Rosalind Russell under that big yellow hat. :-)
ReplyDeleteGosh, I'd love to have that seahorse tote today.
As much as I dislike sewing with Butterick patterns, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't jump on the one for that dreamy white and green dress!
ReplyDeleteThose green trousers...swoon, sigh, love!!! :)

I wonder how cool "cool control" was? I am so in love with the green plaid dress. :)
ReplyDeleteOh all these styles are super cute! I especially love the little purse in the last photo. I think I'll have a stab at making my own with more sea creatures!

We have a great local fashion collector (1800-present) who lectures on all sorts of vintage themes. He is Ivan Sayers and he teaches at Simon Fraser University, Harbour Centre, downtown, Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Classes are always full.
ReplyDeleteWomen's casual clothing does not have to always be casual; using your own personal style you can transform your most comfortable clothing into great evening out wear. stoner emojis
