Outfit: Schoolhouse Red

I can't believe that school is almost out for the summer. My little ones have a week left! I've been planning some fun, free activities to keep everyone busy this summer but I'm sure we'll also enjoy going on walks around the neighborhood and nearby woods.

The city just renovated our local playgrounds and swimming pools so the kids are excited to check out all of the new facilities.

A few decades ago, the closest elementary school was actually right across the street from my house! One day I ran into a man who used to attend this school and he told me about the building, the playground (Which is now a parking lot) and an empty corner lot nearby that was once a little general store where kids would buy candy on the way home from school.

The school building was sold and is now owned by an artist who leases one side out for a church and the other half is her art studio. Since I love to take outfit photos here, I made sure to pop over and say hello and ask if she would mind if I come take pictures for my blog.

When taking photos in front of buildings, I always try to use businesses that are currently closed or vacant spaces.  When one so pretty is so close to home, I thought I better just go say hello and explain why I'm dancing in their parking lot in front of a tripod.  Of course she said yes and promised a future tour of the neat old building.

  1. Love the red door on the school house.. Perfect place to take photos.. I loved reading about the history of the building.
Love, love your skirt. The outfit is so cute..

  2. That's a lot of ads you have on your blog now. I understand you want to earn a little blogging, but I think they ruin the aesthetic. Lovely red outfit, I always notice your shoes. Have a nice day, deard :)

    1. I won't lie, I slightly agree with Sanne here. In scrolling through this post, I had ads in the middle of the post, which were jarring. Ads on the side and bottom are never a problem though. I also totally understand wanting to monetize your blog though!

    2. I'm really not a fan of the ads in the middle of the content either but unfortunately I'm stuck with them for the next 90 days per Mediavine's contract. After that, I can move them as I please and I definitely won't have them breaking up my pretty pictures and content, super annoying!

  3. This outfit darling!!! I absolutely love the skirt!

  4. Classy and classic, and red is always a winner. That's really good of you to be so kind in asking people about taking pictures, and I'm relieved that the artist said yes! x

  5. Hi Brittany, that's nice that the artist let you take photos there. It's the most gorgeous spot and it matches your skirt too! X
