Good morning, lovelies! This morning, Mom and Lilo are in in the kitchen cooking biscuits and gravy for breakfast and the horses are poking their heads through the fence because the grass is indeed greener on the other side.

We're having a wonderful weekend here in the country. Yesterday, we fed the catfish in grandma's pond next door and the kids made mud pies in the yard. Today, we're going fishing, I think.

I thought I'd share some country girl fashions and vintage photo inspiration for you girls who like to get dirty and look good doing it!

vintage style country fashion high waist pants, plaid dress

This weekend, I made sure to pack some utility pieces. High waist jeans are great for woodland hikes and horseback riding but I switch to capris or other cropped styles for pond and river play. Every country girl needs a killer pair of boots

For going to town, I brought one of my favorite 1940s dresses with buttons down the front and a very similar silhouette of this plaid beauty from Modcloth. Also for going to town, leave the practical work boots at home and try a pretty heel in a beautiful autumn shade. On the drive home, comfort is key. However, on road trips, you never know when you might make a pit stop so I always wear something comfortable and stylish. This time, I picked a 1950s green cotton skirt and cute blouse although when packing, I was wishing I had a cute jumper skirt like this one from Bettie Page.

Choose accessories that look good and get the job done when in the country. Always bring a wide brimmed hat to keep the sun and ticks off, a cute scarf to tie your hair up and a fantastic leather satchel to carry your camera and any of nature's treasures that you find in the woods or along the river bank.
